Why we give up?

I came to realise that

people don't simply give up 

because it's hard.

But they do

simply because

it is not worth it.

And worth is subjective.

When something is subjective,

there is no right or wrong.

But there is a reason.

Sofa

I momentarily thought

That you belong in my comfort zone

The sofa I'm sitting on

Cause you have been sitting on it

for quite long.

Looking belonged. 

But you don't belong here.

You were never supposed to sit here.

That's why you eventually 

stood up and leave.

Gladly now, after a long time,

I get to stretch my legs

on this sofa of mine.

A thick blanket

When it's cold
I'll let you wrap my body
As you provide your warmth
That I need

When it's hot
I'll push you way
And you will be unneeded.

But when the weather is just normal,
There's an awkward feeling between us
Cause it will be hot with you
But I'll be cold without you.

More than being awkward,
it's inconvenient.

Path

I know that one day
You will understand what I am thinking
You will feel what I am feeling
You will fear what I fear
And you will regret just like I do

I know for a certain
As you are walking at the same path as I am
The difference is, you're a few steps behind

And even if I slow down my pace
I know you will never catch up
As it is never meant to be

But the fact that I know you will someday
understand me,
comforts me.

You're a star

You told the tale

that you're a star

And you gushed over a hope that
one day you will find 

your moon

to accompany you

throughout those lonely nights.

You told the tale

how both of you

despite everything,

will choose to shine in the darkness,

together.

You indeed are a star.

You will indeed shine

in darkness.

But unlike you,

I don't need darkness 

to shine.

And I don't need anyone

to accompany me either.

Because, I'm the sun.
And I don't fade.

Rock Bottom

When you hit rock bottom,

the only option you have 

is to go back up,

they say.

That is true.

But an option is not an assurance.

You have to struggle to climb back up.

And for all you know,

you might fall over and over again

in the course of climbing.

And that makes you want to

just stay at the rock bottom.
